Alternatives
Slack + 1Password, on one company bill
Most “Slack alternatives” only replace chat. Pace’s wedge is the combination: Messages + Vault (and Sign + Files on the same plan) so your company stops paying two per-seat vendors for the same twenty humans.
The unique wedge
Chat without a vault still leaves passwords on another invoice. A vault without chat still leaves the team in Slack. Pace Operate puts Mattermost-based Messages and Vaultwarden-based Vault on one tenant, one login path, one flat price.
- Messages replaces day-to-day Slack-style team chat
- Vault replaces shared 1Password/LastPass-style company passwords
- Same plan also includes Sign and Files — see per-company pricing
Who should not use Pace
- You only want a pixel-perfect Slack clone (huddles, Slack Marketplace, etc.)
- You need 1Password’s consumer family plan UX and nothing else
- You need Microsoft Teams + Entra as a non-negotiable standard
Phase 1.5 honesty: Pace is waitlist / pre-revenue. Agent codenames exist in the product architecture; tool implementations are stubbed — we do not sell “live autonomous employees” today.
FAQ
Is Pace just Slack?
No. Messages is one app. The point of Operate is Messages + Vault + Sign + Files together.
Do you import Slack history?
White-glove / future import work is tracked separately. Do not expect a self-serve Slack importer on day one of the waitlist.
Is Vault audited like 1Password?
Treat Pace Vault as Vaultwarden-based company password storage with tenant isolation. Read the Security page; do not assume a specific third-party audit badge we have not published.
